Spain calls upon her heroes, her adventurers, her fearless souls to rise and join the grandest campaign of the season! The seas are brimming with opportunity, and the winds whisper tales of untold treasures waiting to be claimed. Together, we will sail under the banner of Spain, where loyalty shines brighter than gold and courage is forged like steel.
But remember, this is not a task for the faint-hearted. Only those with fire in their veins and determination in their hearts will endure the adventures that await. Rally your crew, sharpen your blades, and prepare for glory—it’s time to conquer the waves and etch your name in the annals of legend!
Some may claim that Spain is nothing but a bunch of guys yelling ¡Santiago! and charging into the enemy lines. We are more than that! Spain offers the most diverse play style of all the factions. If you can dream it, Spain can do it!
Join us, and let Spain’s might roar across the seas. The Summer of Plunder is ours to claim!

Spanish Commander – Josh Shivak
Hola!
This year, I, Josh Shivak will be stepping up as Commander of Spain’s forces. I have been wargaming since the late 90’s. I live in the Cleveland, Ohio area and can be found playing my Summer of Plunder games at Recess Games in North Olmstead, Ohio. This year marks 8 years playing the Firelock pirate games and I have loved every moment of it! Oak & Iron is my favorite of the selection brought forth by Firelock. I have played the Spanish forces almost exclusively.
My goal this year is obviously to win the campaign for Spain, but it’s also to encourage all of the Spaniards under my command to have a tremendously fun 9 weeks of plundering!
Spanish Second-in-Command – Daniel Broaddus
¡Bienvenido!
I am Daniel Broaddus, now hailing from Mound City, Missouri. I’ve played tabletop wargames since about 2019 but dove headfirst into Plunder after Adepticon of last year. Plunder and the Firelock system of games are my absolute favorites and I look forward to sharing that fun with as many of you as possible! Just as I did last year, this year I fly the colors of holy Spain! I enjoy studying the rich history of Spain and I think the Spanish nation in Summer of Plunder does a splendid job of capturing that flavor on the tabletop.
Win or lose, we always fight with bravery and for the greater glory! But nothing I write can capture the lustre of playing for Spain quite as well as St. Isidore’s Laus Spaniae in the Historicum Gothorum:

National Objectives for the Spanish
Spanish Faction Objectives. When you submit your week 3 and 9 games and you complete one of the below challengers you will be entered into a prize pool for models. The Make Your Voices Heard challenge will also have a prize pool for those who are willing to take up that challenge.
- Week 3 – Battle Cry of the Iberian Peninsula
- Blood & Plunder – Inspire your forces by using a Mission Priest and yell Santiago!
- Oak & Iron -Play the Bravado Initiative Card
- Port Royal – Use the Spanish Faction ability of Santiago! to move your forces towards your enemy.
- EXTRA CREDIT – Make Your Voices Heard– Record a video of yourself yelling Santiago! while playing in a game store, amongst your friends/opponents. Send a link to the recording (with your name) to jshivak@gmail.com and we will splice them together to be heard as a chorus of victorious Spaniards!
- Week 9 -La fuerza de las armas españolas
- Blood & Plunder – Initiate a charge using a Hidalgo
- Oak & Iron – Fight a round of Close Combat using Repel Boarders Initiative Card
- Port Royal – Have a Guarda Costos crew with at least 4 models equipped with Rapiers/Swords
