Introduction

The Forces
Raid at Barnwell’s Crossing: 130‑point Wabanaki (FotF) vs. British Militia (Scenario 2: Raid)
Game Setup
John Barnwell’s militia mustered at dawn, uneasy but determined. They had heard rumours of a Wabanaki raiding party in their neck of the woods. The Provincial Militia took up position in the shelter of a wheat field, while the English militia clustered protectively around the two objectives – one locked inside a cabin, the other in the open near the road. Barnwell placed his small artillery piece to command the approach, hoping its presence alone would deter any raiders.
Across the field, the Wabanaki advanced as a single, tight body. Kancamagus kept his braves close – within earshot of his commands. The forest edge swallowed their movement until the moment they struck.
The Game – Raid at Barnwell’s Crossing
Turn 1 – The First Shots
The Wabanaki surged forward under cover and opened the fight with precision. Two of the artillery gunners dropped before they could react. The gun belched smoke in reply but hit nothing. Sensing the danger, the Provincial Militia wheeled out of the wheat field and sprinted to protect the exposed flank of the gun.
Turn 2 – The Provincials Break
The leading party of Wabanaki braves fired a devastating volley, cutting down five of the eight Provincials. The survivors, stubborn, frightened, but unwilling to yield, fired back and charged straight into the braves. The braves fell back shaken by the audacity of their enemy, but the Provincials pursued too far and too boldly.
That was when the Pnieses struck.
They counter‑charged with brutal efficiency, wiping out the remaining Provincials in a single clash. The artillery, now nearly abandoned, still managed one moment of grim success – a shot that killed two braves and sent their small group retreating shaken.
Turn 3 – Collapse of the English Line
The Pnieses drew a perfect activation and used it to full effect. They fired into the English militia who had moved up to support the doomed Provincials, then charged. Four of the six English militiamen fell, and the survivors fled shaken.
Only one British unit remained intact – Barnwell’s own men. Barnwell personally led them in a counter‑charge against the Pnieses, hoping to salvage the fight. But his strike test failed at the critical moment. His men faltered, then broke, fleeing the field entirely.
With Barnwell gone and the militia scattered, the Wabanaki moved unopposed into the settlement. The stores were theirs.
