The Summer of Plunder event is kicking off on June 2nd and we have some exciting news! This year Firelock Games is officially hosting the campaign and they have produced a fantastic Organized Play Kit to support the campaign! Let’s take a look at this Summer of Plunder Organized Play Kit, what it includes, and how to get it.

What’s in the Organized Play Kit?

This is going to be a real box of plunder! The kit will include some great prizes, a scenario packet, and instructions for use over the course of the campaign. Each kit will support up to 4 players.

Here is a complete list of the contents (subject to change):

• Campaign poster with basic info and dates
• Instructions and scenario packet
• 13 exclusive new Blood & Plunder minis
• 24 exclusive alternate art/layout stat cards for Blood & Plunder (6 units)
• 4 exclusive Oak & Iron Commander Cards (2 Commanders)
• 4 Fortune Token coins (early orders will receive at least one deluxe token)

Summer of Plunder Poster

The kit will include a large, full-color poster to hang up at your FLGS! Including campaign dates, some very basic information, and a nice image of both Blood & Plunder and Oak & Iron, this poster should get people’s attention! The poster also features a QR code for the Summer of Plunder HQ here on Blood & Pigment, so people can easily find more information!

Instructions & Scenario Packet

This 8-page booklet will have core information about the campaign and instructions for how to use the kit.

Specifically, there’s an intro page, a page with instructions for events during the campaign, a page for Oak & Iron events, and then 3 full Blood & Plunder scenarios designed for play during the Summer of Plunder campaign.

Moreover, each of the three scenarios links to one of the different exclusive miniatures in the kit. We built the scenario designs to help fulfill Campaign Objectives during 3 of the weeks during the campaign.

Scenarios include:

• Treasure Scramble for 2-4 players
• Capture the Surgeon for 2 players
• Fleet Battle for 2-6 players

Exclusive Blood & Plunder Miniatures!

This is what everyone skips through this article for – THE MINIS!

This kit will contain 13 miniatures in three different sculpts. These miniature designs have the needs and convenience of Blood & Plunder players in mind. The scenarios tie in these minis with the Summer of Plunder weekly objectives!

Plunder Objective Tokens

Several Blood & Plunder scenarios call for “objective tokens” or some sort of “plunder token” that needs to be represented by a physical marker on the board. This Organized Play Kit will include 5 “Plunder Objective” tokens featuring a Spanish money chest, half sunk in the sand with a spade near it.

This “work in progress” shot shows that we will feature a copy of Thomas Tew’s chest on a standard round Blood & Plunder base for this objective marker.

Surgeon Character Model

Blood & Plunder introduced the Surgeon/Medicine Man Character in the Raise the Black expansion book, and finding a model for him has proven to be one of the more challenging tasks. Now we get our own Blood & Plunder Surgeon model! The Organized Play Kit will contain 4 Surgeon models for use as objectives and as event prizes.

Master Gunner Character Model

Everyone loves the Master Gunner! He’s a valuable asset to any gun crew. This kit will include 4 copies of a new Master Gunner Character, firing off a cannon.

Daniel, the lead sculptor at Firelock Games, provided us with this WIP shot as well.

Alternate Art for Blood & Plunder Sailor Unit Stat Cards

Barely squeaking in before the deadline, this portion of the project is one I’m REALLY pumped about! Check out these full art, alternate layout stat cards:

Additionally, the kit will contain 4x of all the standard “sailor” units from the various nations.

These are WIP shots of these cards as well. The kit should include:

• 4x Marineros Cards
• 4x Sea Dog Cards
• 4x Marins Cards
• 4x Zeelieden Cards
• 4x European Sailors Cards
• 4x Pirates Cards

With ALL the stats and Special Rules on one side, these are great for players who haven’t memorized all the stats for their favorite sailors and would like to see everything in one place. And with a “full art” format on the front, you can enjoy the colorful side if you know your stats!

Exclusive Oak & Iron Commander Cards

Created by Timber & Sail for scenario games at AdeptiCon, Firelock Games is releasing these as exclusive prizes for the Summer of Plunder 2024. These two Commander Cards will be awesome additions to your Oak & Iron Games.

Metal Fortune Tokens

Blood & Plunder and Oak & Iron use “Fortune Tokens” in the form of cardboard chits representing coins. Fortune Points are a game mechanic letting you “change fate” and possibly alter the course of your game by not accepting the hand (or dice) dealt to you or rerolling key dice rolls. Additionally, you will find some metal coins in the kits to use as Fortune Tokens in your games during the Summer of Plunder.

For this part of the kit we have a bit of an “Early Bird Special”. The first 20 kits (or so) shipped will also include some beautifully recreated facsimiles of real Spanish silver and gold coins from the era. Produced in Eugene, Oregon at the “St. Augustine Mint,” these are the best reproductions on the market right now!

Early kits will likely include 2-3 of these reproductions, as well as, a few more “generic” metal pirate coins representing pieces of eight.

How to Get the Summer of Plunder Organized Play Kit

Firelock Games has finished creating and assembling these kits and they are available for order. These kits will be made available to retail gaming stores AND Firelock Quartermasters only. If you are a standard player you can contact your store or reach out to a Quartermaster in your area. If you don’t have a local Quartermaster, you can get more info and learn how to join the team in our Quartermaster Program article.

The cost of a kit is very reasonable at only $50. Stores and Quartermasters should only order what they need, and the contents should NOT be split up and sold separately. Expansion kits for 4 extra players are available for $40. When ordering from Firelock Games web store, you need to log in to your account BEFORE clicking these links below. We recommend quartermasters charge a $5 cover fee for any event that offers miniatures as prizes to help recoup the cost. Additional paid events and tournaments can be spread throughout the 9-week campaign to help retailers generate some revenue.

Retail stores should receive an email notification regarding the Organized Play Kit, and the kit can be ordered through the retail port on the website, or by talking with their normal point of contact at Firelock Games. Firelock Quartermasters can contact Firelock Games directly to order kits for their playgroups if they don’t have a local store to order for them.
