Painted Summer of Plunder Commander Prizes from Dr. D

The Summer of Plunder campaign has just started and we have some more booty to add to the pile of plunder that’s going out! Dr. D. from the Arachne/Raise the Black podcast has generously donated a set of the Summer of Plunder Organized Play kit commander models that he has painted!

Woodes Rogers, Benjamin Hornigold, and Pieter Stool minis painted by Dr. D

6 Commanders from the Organized Play Kit

The Organized Play Kit for the campaign contains a new unique sculpt for one commander from each of the 6 major nations represented in Blood & Plunder.

Giveaway Timing

During the campaign, there is a special scenario featuring each of these 6 commanders. This painted version of each of the Commanders will be given away during the week that commander is featured.

  • Week 1- Jose de Zuniga Y La Cerda
  • Week 2 – Benjamin Hornigold
  • Week 3 – Rene Dougay Trouin
  • Week 5 – Pieter Stool
  • Week 6 – Chief Gray Lock
  • Week 9 – Woodes Rogers

How to Win a Painted Commander Model

This year you get to PICK which prizes you get entered for. To have a chance at winning these beautifully painted models, you need to either play the weekly scenario, OR simply fulfill the weekly objective. If you check that box in the entry form, you can select either to be considered for a book related to the scenario, a set of game accessories, or the painted commander mini from Dr. D.

The winner will be drawn at the conclusion of each week that qualifies (weeks 2-4, 5-6 & 9).

Week 1 – Jose de Zuniga Y La Cerda

Zuniga was the commander of the Spanish forces at St. Augustine during the opening years of Queen Anne’s War. He successfully repulsed a large British raid in spite of poor troops and lack of support from his superiors.

You can use Zuniga in the Week 1 scenario, Sortie from Castillo San Marcos.

Week 2 – Benjamin Hornigold

Benjamin Hornigold helped get so many of the famous 18th century pirates started.

Dr. D’s Hornigold is well dressed and dignified.

You can use Hornigold in week 2’s scenario. This scenario can be played as a 2 player or 3 player sea game with two small pirate ships trying to capture a larger merchant ship.

Week 3 – Rene Dougay-Trouin

Rene is a bigshot! A very successful privateer and navy man, Rene Dougay-Trouin fought primarily in European theaters, but he did one massive raid on Rio de Janeiro that brings him into the Blood & Plunder world.

You can use Rene in the Prisoner Rescue at Rio de Janeiro scenario during week 3.

Week 5 – Pieter Stool

Pieter Stool is a hard character to find info on! But he was instrumental in the defense of Charles Town when the Franco-Spanish expedition attacked in 1706.

Pieter Stool is featured in the Attack on Charles Town scenario during week 5 of the campaign. This is a larger multiplayer game that may take some prep to assemble, but it a good chance to play an amphibious game.

Week 6 – Chief Gray Lock

You can play Chief Gray Lock as a tricky raider in the Hatfield Raid scenario.

Week 9 – Woodes Rogers

Woodes Rogers is a bit of a “polarizing character” within the Blood & Pigment team. Either you love him, or you can’t bear to actually speak the name!

The final featured scenario of the campaign has Woodes Rogers up against Charles Vane and pirate buddies trying to escape Nassau harbor. This scenario is great fun! Woodes Rogers might blow up one pirate ship after another, or he might burn up in a raging inferno. We know which option Dan would be most pleased with.

You can see a full battle report video on this scenario here.

  1. Attention:
The colors and the ships on the map of the scenario ‘Attack on Charles Town’ don’t match together!
(The two Sloops belong to the defender so it’s wrong that they are on the left and red colored like an attacker.
And in reverse the light Frigate belongs to the attacker so it’s wrong that it is on the right and blue like a defender.)

    Can it still be changed?
