Blood & Plunder at AdeptiCon

AdeptiCon, held every March, is the premier wargaming convention in the United States and also the hottest convention for Blood & Plunder events! Firelock Games has commissioned Blood & Pigment to run all the Blood & Plunder events at AdeptiCon for the past few years and it has been a ton of fun (and work)!

Recent important UPDATE: AdeptiCon 2025 will be in a new location, moving from Schaumburg, IL to the Baird Center in Milwaukee, WI.

We run a variety of events, catering to the whole gamut of Blood & Plunder players, from beginners to veterans. With a hardworking and knowledgeable crew, we seek to offer:

  • Quick and longer length demos
  • Multiplayer Historical Scenario set games
  • Set times to pick up some casual games with other players
  • Land Tournament
  • Sea Tournament

There are always a wide variety of other Firelock Games events hosted at AdeptiCon as well, including events for:

  • Oak & Iron
  • Blood & Valor
  • Blood & Steel
  • Blood & Crowns
  • Port Royal

We assist with some of these while others are run by other individuals and teams.

Blood & Plunder Land Tournament

The 2024 Land Tournament for Blood & Plunder drew 24 players and was a great event. The plan for 2025 is to move the point limit up from 150 to 200 points, giving more options for making more dynamic forces with more Support Units and more interesting Commanders.

Tournaments feature prizes for 1-3rd and a “best painted army” prize.

Blood & Plunder Sea Tournament

We have run a successful 200pt Blood & Plunder Sea Tournament in 2023 and 2024 with 12+ players each year. The point level will likely move up to 250 points for the 2025 Sea Tournament, making space for larger 3 and 4-deck ships, or forces containing more than one small ship.

Historical Narrative Event Games

These narrative events are a little more laid back with less of a competitive edge, but let teams of players play against each other in a multiplayer setting, playing out a historical event drawn from the pages of history.

Events are usually 4-6 players using the Army Scale Rules.

Changes for 2025 include having events fully supplied with appropriate loaner forces so creating teams and starting games will be simple and streamlined.

Events games often include a participation goody or miniature.

Blood & Plunder Open Play

We try to schedule set times for players to meet up and play some casual games, either practice for tournaments, or running out an interesting or new Force for fun. Not everything has to be a competition!

Improvements for 2025 include having set times for Land Games and Sea Games, and pairing people up beforehand so games can happen easily.

Blood & Plunder Learn to Play

Fully furnished with standardized demo forces and taught by Blood & Plunder pros, these Learn to Play sessions are a great opportunity to learn the basic rules for Blood & Plunder in a mid-length demo with another new player. Land and Sea demos available.

Veteran Invitationals

Each year we work super hard prepping and running events for the community. A large portion of the weekend is spent setting up, tearing down, teaching, answering questions and taking minis in and out of cases. Each year we try to schedule a “veterans only” invitational game for organizers and some of the other veteran Blood & Plunder players. If you’re a pro player and are interested in a faster moving, harder hitting event, feel free to inquire about plans for the Veteran Invitational (it won’t be on the AdeptiCon schedule).

Volunteering during Adepticon

If you love Blood & Plunder (or any of the games Firelock Games supports), and want to help out at the con, we’d love to hear from you! It takes a real team to make everything go smoothly and every year the community is amazing at helping out!

There are always opportunities to:

  • Teach demos
  • Help with set up and tear down
  • Help lead teams during Narrative events
  • Providing loaner forces & ships
