The campaign is finished and we have our last batch of prizes to award to players from around the globe! This post will be solely focused on awarding prizes. Because it’s so long, we’re going to split things even more and do a 3rd and final update that will take a tour through the last week of the 2024 Summer of Plunder and look at some numbers, trends, and pictures.
Finally, we have some of our regular weekly prizes to award from the 9th week of the campaign.
Best Photo of the Week – Activation Tokens
Again, plenty of great photos were submitted this week! This week’s prize goes out to Bradley Meloy for this great shot of his English Oak & Iron fleet.
Bradley will receive a set of activation tokens of his choice from our Pigment Shop.
Some runner-ups include:

Random Player who Accomplished the Weekly Objective
The final objective of the week was split into separate objectives for each nation. The objectives were varied, but 199 people accomplished their objectives out of the 230 entries in the last week.
Drawn randomly from the 199 qualifying entries, Hans Sprenkle, playing for the Dutch this year, has won the final Fortune Coin giveaway!
Random Entry for Week 9
This week’s random winner to receive a blister pack of minis is Derek Serrano. Derek has played for the English this year and logged 11 games, including 4 Oak & Iron Games.
Derrek will receive a blister pack of metal/resin minis of his choice.
Random Prize of the Week 9
For Week 9 we wanted to end on a big prize of the event! The Stone Tower Fort from Firelock Games. This is a beast, both to paint and to play against! Drawn randomly from the 138 unique players who participated in the final week of the campaign, our winner is Leah Panitz!

Campaign Finale Prizes Awarded for 2024
We had a huge pile of prizes to give away this year! We have at least 80 prizes this year totaling more than $3,000 in value. A significant numbers of prizes have been awarded and shipped throughout the campaign and you can find winners listed in each of the Player & Winner updates published weekly this year.
Random New Player Teacher- Feldherr Case
Donated by Feldherr, we have a nice miniatures case that holds up to 200 minis to award. The winner of this prize is drawn at random from among the players who taught new players to play Blood & Plunder of Oak & Iron throughout this campaign. Each new player taught earns a player a raffle ticket entry.
Photo from Marc Hardenack
Thanks to Feldherr for sponsoring both this campaign and the Great Pirate Paint Off earlier this year!
Marc Hardenack led the way this year, teaching 13 people! While not the campaign’s primary goal, bringing new people into the hobby is one of the goals of the event and we’re thrilled to see so many new players participating this year, largely due to the work, preparation, and efforts of people like Marc!

FLGS Supporter – Fluyt
We have a chunky Blood & Plunder Fluyt to give away to a player who has logged games at their FLGS this year. Playing at your local gaming store helps stores know there’s a demand, lets passing people see the game, and helps grow the player base! And having a big, impressive ship on the board is a huge draw. The fluyt may be slow, but she catches eyes!
Of the 1810 games logged this year, 903 were played a game store or public venue. That’s a lot of games catching peoples’ eyes!
This prize goes out to Conner Fix who played an impressive 41 games throughout the 9-week campaign, 36 of them at a game store or other public venue.
Best Battle Report(s)
This was the hardest category to judge. There have been literally hundreds of fun battle reports submitted with entries, or shared on Facebook or Discord. I’m very impressed at the quality of writing and entertainment value on display from this community. But with all that material to work with, it’s hard to select a winner.
But we’re proud to announce it’s going to Danny Perkins. Every one of his 78 games submitted this year included a delightful, witty, and historically based & informed battle report.
Samples of Danny’s Reports
Please enjoy a small sample of the constant stream of entertaining battle reports from Danny:
“Though our fleet was wrecked and we were stranded upon Las Aves, we conducted ourselves well. Those perfidious buccaneers, however, went about looting what supplies washed up on shore after the wreckage! We saw them hoarding the supplies we all needed. Playing the other side of my Las Aves scenario I went about to see if I might be able to win back some glory for the French Navy.
Well to Damnation with them! We charged our weapons and went about to beat them in their own game.
Our Commander sent some regulars to stalk the wreckage in hopes of finding supplies missed, while our marina raced for the supplies in the open. They were fired at, yet commended themselves bravely. Though truth be told we were not fully sure they were shot at – those engage may have been firing at the sun for how close they got.
Our regulars spied some flibustiers with one of the supply crates. With spectacular aim (two tens to hit) they struck them dead where they stood. Our Commander rushed to the sound of gunshots – yet his appearance drew attention. Him and his closest fellows received a hail of shot. Only by the Grace of God was he left alive. His two fellows lay face down in the tide pools.
The Commander grabbed a barrel hoping to make off with it when he was beset upon by the Buccaneer commander and his men, fresh and eager. The Commander died a brave man. The regulars turned and raced into the fray for revenge, but gave little than a noble showing for their efforts.
Yet, they did draw enough attention that our Marins, creeping closer as the engages returned to their camp with supplies, were able to crush the Flibustiers to death between them and the regulars.
The Engage raced to avenge their fallen friends, but with French bravery and Continental shot we turned them away. (Though truth be told each side only got one set of supplies back to their camp – so by my scenario rules it was a tie… curse my fixation with glorious French charges!)
With the most total points for one individual, Connor Fix will be receiving a customized reproduction of a Letter of Marque, straight from Captain Marrow. Adam Marrow is a huge pirate enthusiast and makes incredible reproduction documents. Connor will be able to customize the document with his own captain name, ship name, tonnage, and number of guns.
Played for the Most Nations/Factions
Players were incentivized to play for one nation this year but some players were free agents! Only one player (besides the campaign organizers) managed to log games for all 6 Nations: Danny Perkins. Danny has undoubtedly made a lot of enemies with his flip-flopping so we’ll be sending a Letter of Pardon for his efforts!. You are forgiven. Just don’t do it again. Also from Captain Marrow.
In Danny’s total of 78 games, he managed to play 5 different Dutch factions, 14 English Factions, 17 French factions, 10 Minor Powers factions, 15 Native American factions, 4 Pirate factions, and 10 different Spanish factions. That’s more factions than the average player will try in years!
Know Your Nation – 17th Century Deluxe Rulebook
We’re sending a red, deluxe faux leather rulebook out to a player who has played at least 7 factions within their “Nation.” There are a lot of Factions in Blood & Plunder and it’s awesome to explore them all and get a good feel for how your nation functions in the game.
This category was well-contested with 34 players from fulfilling the requirement!

A big shoutout to Derek Taylor who played the most factions with his nation at 19 different Native Factions. Impressive work by Danny Perkins again. He played 7+ factions within all the Nations except the Dutch!
New Player Prize – Starter Set & Sloop
We love to support new players in the community by sending out some sizable packages of reinforcements to a few players new to the game(s). This year we’ve sent out a $120 package and a $150 package and we still have a $180 prize set to give away in the last week. A “new player” is defined as having started playing Blood & Plunder (or Oak & Iron) in 2024. There’s a lot of you and we’re thrilled to have you on board!
Drawn from New Players participating in the last 3 weeks of the campaign, our winner for this prize is Ricky Dupree! Ricky will receive a starter box of minis of his choice and a resin sloop (or material of equivalent value).
Sloop painted and rigged by Paul Kingtiger
“Improvised Terrain” – Plunder Den Terrain
Dexter from The Plunder Den has donated one of his beautiful terrain pieces to someone whose terrain game might be “in the early stages.” Collecting terrain can be a big project and takes time! This should be a good jump start for the terrain collection. This year the prize goes out to “Barnacle.”
Thanks to Dexter for sponsoring the campaign again this year!
Epic Fleet Battle – Sloop of War
Large games are a challenge to organize but tons of fun and they make a great spectacle. We have a prize for “the coolest fleet battle.” The winner will receive the book, The Sloop of War by Ian McLoughlan.
This is one of the best books out there on 17th/early 18th century ships, complete with history, period paintings, and illustrations that can be super helpful in painting and rigging your Blood & Plunder Ship. This is a beautiful (and hefty) coffee table-style book!
Native Bonus Prize!
Natives have historically had the fewest players by a large margin. This year was better but we used plain bribery, setting up a prize of Native minis and accessories for a random player playing for the Native Americans this year. The prize will include a canoa, some minis, some fortune tokens, and activation tokens (at least).
Photo from Jakub Wichary
Drawn from the list of 34 players playing for the Native Americans this year, Jakub Wichary is our winner! Thanks to everyone who played on the Native team this year. Great year for them!
“Rough Seas” – Sea Mat
Donated by Matthew Doerr, we will be awarding a sea game mat to a player whose oceans look suspiciously wooden or carpentry. Our winner for this prize is “963yug_taht.” 963yug_taht played 21 games for the Pirates this year and ranked 4th for the Pirates this year.
Thanks, Matthew for sponsoring the campaign (and leading the Dutch this year)!
Organize the Organized Play – Seamon’s Sails
Seamons’ Quality Sails donated another set of awesome cloth sails as a prize for someone who played all three scenarios from the 2024 Organized Play Kit this year. Thanks to Mary Seamons for supporting both this campaign and the Great Pirate Paint Off again this year!
OK, we’re going to give this away to Jason Klotz, man of the hour, who put so much work into the campaign this year. The hours and talent he applied to the campaign design, spreadsheet creation and maintenance, map creation, and update writing, were massive. Without Jason’s efforts, this campaign would be been a much humbler affair.
But not only did Jason help run this campaign, but he organized events every week (or more) at his local gaming store, providing mats, terrain, loaner armies, and teaching 22 new players!
Jason was able to run each of the 3 events from the OP Kit, in addition to several other awesome scenarios during the campaign. Jason deserves thanks from the whole community for all his efforts this year!
Little Ships – Big Prizes
We have two prizes for Oak & Iron players specifically. Drawn at random from players logging Oak & Iron games, we have a coastal game mat from TABLEWAR and an Oak & Iron expansion (of the winner’s choice) from Timber & Sail.
Thanks to Timber & Sail (Jason) and TABLEWAR for sponsoring the Summer of Plunder and the Great Pirate Paint Off again this year!
Our first winner, winning a coastal sea mat from TABLEWAR is David.

The player who played the most Oak & Iron this year was Josiah Huss with 21 games! Josiah can pick his choice of any of the expansions for Oak & Iron provided by Jason Klotz from Timber & Sail, the best Oak & Iron fan site out there!
We had an increased percentage of Oak and Iron games this year submitted by a larger number of players. Thanks to Jason for supporting the Oak & Iron community (and for everything he does!).

Go play a couple more games! Get your hat in the ring to win some more plunder! Big thanks to all the companies, organizations, and individuals who contributed to our massive prize pool this year. We’re sending out more than $3,000 in plunder to you all this year!
Nation-Specific Prizes
The final prizes coming from national commanders will be given away in the final “Player Update” which should be released soon! Look for the Commander Updates portion of that final update. Each Commander had $100 worth of prize support for their players this year, and this is their last chance to give it away!
But there are two prizes we need to give away to players of the winning nation of the global campaign.
Second Place Nation Prize – Barco Luengo
Donated before the campaign by Dutch Commander Matthew Doerr, we have a Barco Luengo to give away to a random player from the Nation who came in second in the campaign. Drawing names for this prize, the winner is Jakub Karaś. Jakub led up the Polish club and played a lot of games this year!
Grand Prize – 6th Rate Frigate
“Winning the campaign” is mostly about fame and glory, but there is a nice prize for a random player from the winning nation. But one player from the winning Nation gets the big prize as well!
Randomly drawing from the 51 Dutch Players who contributed to their victory this year, Paul T came up as the winner! May this powerful ship help you suppress piracy and clear the shipping lanes for Dutch commence until next year!
Well, that was a lot of prizes! We hope you enjoyed the prize support this year and we hope you walked away with a bit of plunder, and if not, some “treasured memories” of some great gaming experiences during the campaign this year.
A huge thanks to all the individuals and organizations that provided prize support for the campaign this year:
