We’re well into March and into the heart of the 2026 Great Pirate Paint Off! During March we focus on Blood & Plunder Units, and a new category this year, Port Royal models.
Let’s look at some of our early entries in these categories and look at the prizes we will be giving out at the midpoint and end of the month.
Blood & Plunder Units
Here are some of the units that have come in early in the contest so far.

We have 27 entries so far in this category and the month is just starting!
Here’s a beautiful entry that just came in from Brent D. Some old school metal cavalry! Everyone loves that sculpt with the rearing horse!

As a reminder, a “unit” counts as a set of 4-8 that could be used together as one unit type in Blood & Plunder and they need to be (at least mostly) official Firelock Games miniatures. Kitbashing and customization is welcomed!
You can see the current Unit Gallery for the contest here.
Mid March B&P Unit Prize – Baron of Dice Set of d10’s
At the mid point of March, we will be giving away a set of d10’s from Baron of Dice. The winner will be able to choose between one of the nationality sets from Baron of Dice, or our very own custom set of Blood & Pigment dice from Baron of Dice.

At the end of the month, we will be giving away a whole Faction Box for Blood & Plunder! This includes 25 resin miniatures, valued at $99. That new Golden Age Pirates Faction Box looks pretty tempting!
Port Royal Miniatures

We wanted to open up the contest to Port Royal players and painter this year so we have a new category! This is open to single models, a set of a few models, or even the Port Royal Objective Markers. We have a few great kitbashed minis here already, and we’re hoping it will take off here in March.

We got a several sets of the Objectives tokens entered in the Terrain category.

This is a pretty flexible category this year. Basically any single model or group of models or terrain pieces you paint for Port Royal.

We will be giving away as set of the Port Royal acrylic templates at the midpoint of March, and then giving away a full Port Royal force box at the end of the month.

You can check out the current Port Royal Gallery here.
Plunder Den Terrain Flash Challenge
We still have the Plunder Den Flash Challenge running until the middle of March as well. We have a couple great entries so far, but hoping for a few more. Check out Dexter’s tutorial video here.
Final Thoughts
Get down to painting! It’s the perfect time to reduce that gray pile of shame. Tournament season and Summer of Plunder are both coming up and you need those units all dressed up for the season.
