Today we are showing off the new Caribbean Native Commander model that will be released as part of the “Wave 2” series of minis for Blood & Plunder. New Blood & Plunder Native Commander

This new version of the Caribbean Native American Commander for Blood & Plunder is a massive and intimidating figure! Well built, arrayed in finery and armed with both a club and sword, this guy means business.

Native American Commander Sculpt

Firelock sculptors are doing such great work with these new minis!

WIP rendering of the Native Commander

As usual, the detail is great on this mini and the pose is commanding and clearly marks the model as a commander for your force.

My preview copy had a couple irregularities (you can see a ridge on his chin), but that’s why they do preview copies for painters! Feedback has been submitted. Dr. D’s model doesn’t seem to have that issue with the chin, so maybe its already worked out.

Painting the Native American Commander

I used the trio of South American Skin Tone paints from Wargames Foundry, and Dr. D did something much more sophisticated and fancy. You can actually watch Dr. D paint this guy up on his Twitch Channel right here!

His skin recipe was Pro-Acryl Dark Purple brightened up to Orange Brown to Vallejho Skin highlight.

Dr. D’s native king is glorious in his red cloak and brightly colored feathers.

I used more whites in my paint job and dirtied him up a little.

I pulled ideas from these images for my paint job:

The club is incredibly detailed and my quick undercoat of ivory and overcoat of dark brown didn’t quite do it justice. I should have done a true drybrush over the top to preserve the light color underneath.

Warpaint is always tricky, but can add a lot to the model. I find the contrast or speed paints work great for adding warpaint as they look a little transparent.

The Blood & Plunder Caribbean Native Commander Range

From left to right: original generic Native, new generic Native, King Golden Cap, and the Miskito Striker exclusive mini from the Buccaneer’s Companion Organized Play Kit.

Native Commander on the Table

This powerful Commander looks good and the table and is ready to gather his Great Warriors around him and repel the Spanish, English or French enemies from their shores.

Native Americans in Central American often worked as allies with the English or French Buccaneers in major raids on Spanish targets.

They served as guides, suppliers, and warriors alongside the English in several raids that will be part of a campaign included in the Rise of Buccaneers: Jamaica expansion planned for 2026.

Final Thoughts

We’re liking these new minis! In fact, pretty much all the recent sculpts coming from Firelock Games have been really great!

The guys here at Blood & Pigment are eagerly looking forward to that Blood & Plunder Kickstarter next year! Mark your calendars for sometime in the first quarter. You’re not going to want to miss this great new Native American Commander, or all the other great minis that will be coming at us!
