Drunk Pirate time! Firelock Games is currently (as of 6/7/25) offering a free promotional drunk pirate miniature on orders of more than $100 on their webstore in celebration of the 2025 Summer of Plunder campaign starting! This was their promotional mini for the 2025 Adepticon convention and its good to see it made available for more players.

Painting time has been scarce, but I finally got the mini painted and now is a good time to share it since it’s available.
Blood & Plunder Drunk Pirate Model

A Strange Resemblance…

You may have noticed a slight resemblance to a popular pirate figure of our age. There may be some coincidental similarities, but there can be no question that he is “legally distinct” as our froggy friend on Discord put it.

Painting the Drunk Pirate
I went all-in on modeling my paint job after the random pirate image above, with the exception of giving him a more manly beard.
Blue waistcoat, medium brown coat, dark grey hat and boots(!), read bandana, and white and red sash around the wast.

A mix of brass and silver buttons, some colorful ornaments in the hair, a a dark green bottle with a gloss varnish seemed to do the trick. I painted the bottle green, then used a brown contrast paint over the bottom portion to make it appear half full, then added the gloss varnish after applying the protective flat varnish.
I attempted to give him his signature eye makeup, but it turned out so-so and I was unwilling to start over on that face. Most people won’t be using a Nikon macro lens to inspect him on the tabletop.

The Drunk and the Sober
Bartholomew Roberts was reported to be stone sober and had little patience for the drunken debaucheries of the typical pirate. His crew’s drunkenness was ultimately part of his undoing as well, so I thought this was a funny pair.

Using the Drunk Pirate Mini
Several of the Pirate factions (Golden Age Pirates, Logwood Cutters, and Pirates) have a chance of having units starting the game under the Drunk rules. This effect improves both their Resolve and their Fight skills, but adds a +1 penalty to all other stats and tests during the game.
If can be hard to remember which units are drunk during a game, and this is a great mini to use as a “status marker.” Just replace a normal pirate model with this charming fellow, and you’ll have no trouble remembering which unit is really having a good time!

You could also use this mini for a generic pirate commander. He could be an awesome miniature for a man of intense in Port Royal as well!

Getting Your Own Drunk Pirate

Currently, the only way to get one of these bad boys is as a bonus freebie on orders over $100 on Firelock Games’ website. There’s some exciting new products to pick up if you’re looking stuff to get you up to that $100 mark. New items include the Port Royal starter armies and deluxe dice sets from Baron of Dice.
The mini will not show up in your card, and you don’t need to use a promo code or anything. The Drunk just knows when to jump in that box.

There are some fun new sculpts hidden in these Port Royal starter sets. I’m especially excited for the Maroon set full of new minis.
