Great Pirate Paint Off: Bonus Giveaways for March!

The Great Pirate Paint Off painting contest for Blood & Plunder and Oak & Iron continues and we have some quick giveaways to award!

Metal Minis Blister Pack Prizes

Today we’re giving out metal miniatures! We have 4 Unit blisters, 1 Legendary Commander, and a pack of Medium Cannons to 5 different random participants in the current Blood & Plunder Unit category of the Great Pirate Paint Off contest.

We’ll likely be passing out a few more packs of minis at the very end of March as well, so get those painted units in to be eligible for the next drawing!

Prize Sponsor – Geeks & Games in Oregon City

These prizes come courtesy of Geeks & Games in Oregon City. This game store is one of Blood & Pigment’s “Home” stores, hosting a weekly Blood & Plunder meetup every Thursday night. Geeks & Games has been carrying and supporting Blood & Plunder (and more of Firelock’s games) since the very beginning and is overall an awesome gaming store. A big shoutout to owners Adam & La Donna!

Randomly Drawn Winners

Let’s award some loot! These winners were randomly drawn from all the Unit entries entered before March 18 (as promised in the Mid March Updated). The winner was determined through a random number generator and the prize was “thoughtfully selected” from the available prize pool. We have another $120 of minis to pass out in the same manner at the end of the month!

We’ll use this opportunity to highlight some of the great work entered in the contest this year by these painters.

Prize 1: Sea Dogs Set – Andrew Cox

A blister of metal Sea Dogs is going out to Andrew Cox. Andrew has done a bunch of great work this year and entered 9 Commander and Unit entries so far. With all these minis painted, he’s got a great Buccaneer force ready to raid the Spanish Main! Hopefully another unit of Sea Dogs will be a helpful addition to the crew.

Prize 2: Enter Ploeg Set – Ryan Peterson

No matter what nation you play, at least a couple of your factions will have Enter Ploeg available as a Support Unit. These doughty Dutchmen will take the fight to the enemy’s ship! These are some of the most badass boarders in the game! Ryan’s painting work is always incredible and he’s a worthy winner for this prize! Check out some of Ryan’s entries so far, including several great units made with the hard plastic Sailor Unit Box.

Prize 3: Medium Cannons – Jerry Kegley

All Firelock Games ships come with a full compliment of Light Cannons. But sometimes you need MORE. Medium Cannons are where artillery starts to really pack a punch! This pack of metal Medium Cannons contains 6 guns, enough to provide all the deck guns necessary for almost any ship in Blood & Plunder.

This prize goes out to Jerry Kegley, another worthy winner! Jerry has submitted a bunch of great work this year and won top prizes in both the Commander and Character categories! Check out some of Jerry’s unit entries below:

And finally, a crowning entry, an entire Pirate Force!

Prize 4: Young Warriors – Kurtis Fraley

Natives make great support units for so many Blood & Plunder Factions, including most of the Pirate & Buccaneer Factions. These Young Warriors can function as some cheap and quick harassing firepower for your pirate crew stumping through the jungle.

This prize goes out to Kurtis Fraley who has also entered a bunch of great work this year! Some really great commanders, terrain and units.

Prize 5: Kapers and Morgan – Patric Henson

This final prize includes a set of Dutch Kapers and the Legendary Henry Morgan Commander model. Captain Morgan just got a price cut and he’s super fun commander! Every English Buccaneer force should have some Dutchmen included. Whatever you need done on a ship, the Dutch Kapers can do it!

This prize goes out to Patric Henson, a longtime Blood & Plunder (and Oak & Iron) player. Patric has already entered four solid units in this year’s contest, with a strong English Buccaneer focus.

Final Thoughts

Thank you everyone for your great entries in the painting contest so far! The Blood & Plunder Units Category will be open until the end of March, 2024. We’ll have some more metal unit packs to hand out in addition to the Blood & Plunder Storage Box from Things from the Basement which is the category grand prize.

The contest will conclude with the Blood & Plunder Ship and the Army (for Plunder and Oak & Iron) categories in April. You can find full details on the Great Pirate Paint Off Contest here on the contest home page.
