Firelock Games has big plans for Blood & Plunder in 2026! We recently previewed the Corbeta, a new ship scheduled to release early next year and now we get a first look at some of the “Wave 2” miniatures coming as part of that same Kickstarter project. These Spanish Marineros will be part of a large project that includes a massive number of new sculpts for all the nations in Blood & Plunder. Read on for more info and pictures of these new Spanish miniatures!

Spanish Marineros New Sculpts
This new set of Spanish sailors, or Marineros, includes 4 dynamic poses with plenty of Spanish flavor. Check out each of these hairy Iberian fellows!

This first model has a great “boarding pose,” swinging his sword wildly while he peeks out from under a mop of uncut hair. This would be a great Reformado model, or just a good model to first to board the enemy’s ship.

This second model is the spiritual successor to the iconic “heavyweight” shirtless Marinero from the original set. But this guy is a little more ripped and has more of a “I’ll be back” vibe. There’s lots of opportunity of some tattoos here,or a bloody bandage around the head.

All these models wield the Spanish style “Miquelet” pistol, which is some great historical flavor.

The third model is clean shaven and is armed again with the miquelet pistol and a solid cutlass.

The final new Marinero sculpt is galently moustached and swings a sword similar to one on the original Marineros. All of these sculpts are very “3 dimensional” with lots of motion and action built into them.
Quality of Sculpts & Printing
The 3D printed resin sculpts from Firelock Games are really nice and they just keep getting better! I didn’t notice any print lines on these models while painting. I can’t even see layer lines on these images taken with macro lens! They are very high quality prints!

The faces are a huge area where the detail is just astounding. Painters with more skill than I have should be able to make these look amazing. We have teeth inside the mouth!

The detail on weapons is another big upgrade. Pistol detail is beautiful. Even if my paint doesn’t exactly follow the lines.

The hands are also super highly detailed.
The swords are a bit thick for durability, but not disturbingly so.

The miniatures are solid and on the bulkier side, typical of Firelock Games’ miniatures. Clothes have great folds and detail to accept paint.

Wave 2 Marineros Compared to Originals
These models look great together with the original set of 4 Marinero models from 2016.

There is consistency in national flavor, style and weaponry, but plenty of unique personality in each model. Each set has 1 no-shirt, 2 barefoot, 2 shoe shod, and 1 guy with a boarding axe.

Overall this set looks slightly more aggressive, with larger poses being made possible by the new production method.

The new models didn’t have any unsightly weird printing lines like the small imperfection you see on the resin print of one of the original Marineros in the image above. I literally did zero prep work on these miniatures before priming and painting. They were pristine.

Timeline for Wave 2 Blood & Plunder Miniatures
Firelock Games announced they will be running this project as a Kickstarter in the first quarter of 2026. With all miniature production done in the US, fulfillment should be accomplished fairly quickly after the project concludes. I have heard very optimistic goals!

Blood & Plunder: Rise of Buccaneers – Jamaica will include several new Spanish factions that these Marineros can be used in! The small book will focus on the founding of Jamaica as a privateer haven, and the conflict between Spanish and English on Jamaica and at sea.

We have a full line of new Spanish sculpts for this project, including Lanceros, Milicianos, Milicianos Indios, Marineros and standard and new legendary Spanish Commanders. Stay tuned for more previews as we get them painted.

Final Thoughts
We’re really impressed by these new minis and eagerly awaiting the project to launch early next year! There will be tons of new models for Spanish, English, French, Dutch and Native players, and maybe even a new “national” starter set that isn’t any one of those nations!

We should have more minis previews coming with Spanish from Garrett, Dutch from Dan and Jason, and English from Riley. Lots of great stuff coming!
