January has come to a close and the first two categories are wrapping up in our annual Great Pirate Paint Off Contest. We have had record participation so far this year with 169 entries within the first 31 days of the event!
This is a bit of a “sprawling contest” with categories being judged and awarded prizes at the end of each month, January-April. The time window for entering Commander and Characters has just closed and now we get to see all the impressive work submitted from around the worldwide Blood & Plunder community, and pick some winners!
Watch for a contest update highlighting some of these great entries and awarding another prize over the next day or two.

People’s Choice Process for Commanders & Characters
With all entries added to this gallery, our panel of 5 judges is narrowing the field to the top 5. That process involves each judge independently ranking their top 5 entries. Top choice gets 5pts, second choice gets 4pts etc. All those points from the 5 different judges with be tallied and the highest scoring entries will make up the choices for a People’s Choice final showdown! That’s where you ALL come in. Watch for a People’s Choice post coming up soon for both Commanders & Characters. That window for voting will last several days and a winners will be announced and awarded attractive 2025 Great Pirate Paint Off prize medals!
