The Summer of Plunder is wrapping up and we have a bonus point to award before the final conflicts in the Caribbean are resolved and a nation is declared winner! We have a winner of the third Campaign Narrative Event, THE END IS NIGH! In the first event, a storm smashed a pirate ship carrying a notable fellow of dubious character on the shores. During the second event, this mysterious had to be hunted and captured. In this final event, this pirate Captain Maxwell Wyndham is on his last trip to the gallows. Or is he? He still has hope of rescue from some of his old crewmates!

Players participated in this event over the past week and a half by playing specific scenarios:
- Blood & Plunder – “ESCORT” from the No Peace Beyond the Line expansion book
- Oak & Iron – Escort Scenario available in the Core Rules of the Oak & Iron
OR play the “Delivery” Scenario from TimberAndSail.com
With the race for the campaign champion tight between all 6 nations, there was high participation in this event with a total of 134 games logged using these scenarios. We have drawn one winner who will receive a custom Leather Dice Tray donated by Tyler Stone at DeadMansChest.org and 1 bonus campaign point for their nation. With a race this tight, this one bonus point could break a tie for first place! Or make a tie! (provisions have been made for a tiebreaker if that becomes necessary).

Will Captain Wyndam be brought to justice or rescued by his devoted crew?

Community Participation in the “THE END IS NIGH!” event
Of the 134 qualifying entries for this event, 29 were Dutch, 37 were English, 17 were French, 18 were Native American, 19 were Pirates, and 14 were Spanish.

THE END IS NIGH! Scenario Winner – Bonus Prize
Using a random number generated from the 134 winning entries, the winning number was 8. And the winner is…
[drum roll] …
Peter Johnson!
Peter has been playing games for the Pirates this campaign and has contributed an amazing 39 games this year!

La Buse was escorting “the dignitary” Ie, Caesar, when beset by Maynard and crew. They almost sailed off the map, but due to low-value cards, Maynard was obligated to sail in the opposite direction, scrolling the map. Pirates sailed off the closest edge after, according to the scenario.

Bonus Victory Point for the Winning Entry’s Nation

Peter’s winning entry was a game for the Pirates Golden Age Pirates faction, one of the most played factions this entire campaign. This means that the Pirates will receive the Bonus Victory Point from the event. This is so crucial here at the end of all things!
Congrats to the Pirates on their bonus point prize. The Pirates had a good start but got hit hard one week. They threw a desperate gambit and got back in the game and doesn’t hurt! The Week 8 Numbers, augmented by this bonus point stand thus:

This point pulls the Pirates slightly ahead of the French and into second place! After all, The Boyar has the Lucky Special Rule!

The Winning Prize – A Custom Leather Dice Tray

Leather Dice Tray
A collapsible leather dice tray to add some cool factor to your game table and keep those pesky dice from escaping on the floor or knocking over minis!
The actual tray will feature an etched Dead Man’s Chest logo in the center. A big thanks to Tyler from Dead Man’s Chest for both donating this awesome prize and working hard to help Andy lead the French this year.
Stay tuned for the big announcement later today! We’re crunching the numbers and determining the final winning nation of the campaign. Then there will be a final post with a bunch of prizes handed out to individuals in different categories. The campaign is wrapping up but we got a couple more fun posts to share!
