France calls all bold and true captains to come forward and sail for her glory!

Two years ago France came in third during the Summer of Plunder. Last year France ended in second place. We are on an upward trajectory and are destined to come in first place this campaign! We have the best dressed troops, the finest weapons, and the swiftest ships. Our captains are as wise and cultured as they are crafty and cunning.

Victory is in our sights, the wind is at our backs, all that is left is for you to swear your ship to France’s triumph!

French Commander Andy Hodges

I am humbled and excited to be  returning again for my second year as the French Commander for the Summer of Plunder. I am a tabletop gamer, podcaster, and frequent loiterer at renfaires.

I became obsessed with Blood and Plunder after seeing Joseph Forster’s Instagram posts about it and then finding the Blood and Pigment blog. After following them for awhile I took the plunge and jumped aboard. I’ve been playing for 4ish years now and have loved getting involved with the community through tournaments, the Quartermaster program, and the Summer of Plunder.

French Second-in-Command – Tyler Stone

L’Homme Mort, the Dead Man himself, Tyler Stone returns as the French Second. Tyler has captained French efforts since the inaugural Summer of Plunder.

A Plunder player since 2017, and a wargamer for life, Tyler has been a community leader from the first days of the Quartermaster program.

Tyler is also a sponsor of the Summer of Plunder through his blog, DeadMansChest.org. However, if you fancy testing your mettle against French steel – you can find him plying his particular Ruthlessness at HMGS Historicon, and organizing events at Lazarus Games in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

Comments from French Command

Blood and Plunder has a lot of incredible options for play. Every nationality brings something fun to the table and has interesting factions. However, in my humble and “unbiased” opinion, France stands alone as the faction that can do it all. 

It is the faction with the coolest models. From the Compagnies Franches de la Marine to the Boucaniere France has some of the most unique and exciting miniatures in the game. There is so much variety in France’s model line that you’ll never get tired of painting. Between the Caribbean factions, the North American ones, and its ability to take so many Native units you’ll never be bored with these minis!

Mechanically France can do everything the other nationalities can do but better. France has the most accurate musketry in the game for sure. But they’re more then just the best shots. They can sail like the Dutch, they can board like the Pirates, they can stand toe to toe with the English, they can hit and run like the Natives, and they be as ruthless as Spain. France is a jack of all trades and master of all. There is no downside to France’s list building options. As I said last year the best pairing to your opponents whining about the overpowered France is a fine French cheese and baguette (get it, wine and cheese/bread?). 

Lastly, the last reason to sign on board with France is I think it is our year. We’ve been underestimated in the past. Yet, we’ve had incredibly strong showings the past two years. We have a fantastic group of players who are friendly and welcoming, we have an experienced commander and second in command, and we have the spirit needed to achieve this win. The last thing we need is for you to join us.

French Commander Cards

Custom printed Commander Cards are being created for all commanders in the Summer of Plunder. These cards are fully legal for standard Blood & Plunder games, being fancied up version of the “Standard French Commanders” present in Raise the Black. These are one of the many prizes you may be eligible to win during this year’s Summer of Plunder!
