AdeptiCon 2025, held March 26th-30th, is the premier wargaming convention in the United States and also the hottest convention for Blood & Plunder events! Firelock Games has commissioned Blood & Pigment to run all the Blood & Plunder events at AdeptiCon for the past few years and it has been a ton of fun (and work)!

Recent important UPDATE: AdeptiCon 2025 will be in a new location, moving from Schaumburg, IL to the Baird Center in Milwaukee, WI.

Plans are solidifying for events at this year’s Adepticon! More details will be forthcoming, but here is some basic information.

Blood & Plunder Demos

Daily land and sea demo games, once per hour every morning on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Demo games will accommodate 2-4 players and feature forces of 3 units, around 70 points for land games and around 120 points for sea games. We are in the process of assembling devoted demo forces, especially designed for new players learning Blood & Plunder.

Land games will feature Spanish Militia, English Buccaneer and French Buccaneer forces. Sea forces will include Pirate forces and British Militia Pirate Hunter forces in Balandras in Bermuda Sloops.

Blood & Plunder Narrative Events

We will again offer a couple historical narrative events, but we will be changing the format to make things easier for both players and organizers. Instead of running 3-4 simultaneous tables of the same scenario, we will be running 1 table of each scenario 4 times during the convention. The table will remain set up all week and all miniatures and materials will be supplied.

Our two scenarios include one Buccaneer scenario and one colonial war scenario.

Christopher Myngs’ Raid on Santiago de Cuba

This scenario is coming from an upcoming expansion for Blood & Plunder, focusing on the Western Design, the capture of Jamaica, and the early years of English buccaneering.

A fleet of hungry buccaneers is on the hunt for plunder—or blood! Admiral Christopher Myngs leads a fierce force of buccaneers, army veterans, navy men, and vengeful natives, all with a score to settle against the Spanish empire. After capturing the island of Jamaica in 1655, the English now use it as a base for raids on Spanish cities. Their first target: Santiago de Cuba, the island’s second-largest city. Bypassing the fortified harbor, the English land miles up the coast and marched inland to attack the city from behind. Join the English as they storm Santiago, aiming to overwhelm its defenses and seize plunder, or command the Spanish defenders, to delay the attackers, hide valuables, and help civilians escape.

The Deerfield Raid

This scenario is more of a colonial wars event, featuring forces and commanders from the Raise the Black expansion.

“Refight the 1704 Deerfield Raid, one of the most famous raids on the New England frontier during Queen Anne’s War. The French & Indians have traveled far through bitter cold weather to strike a blow against their English foes. The town of Deerfield, no stranger to conflict, is guarded by a garrison of militia, a strong palisade wall and a town watch. Join the French & Indians as they try to pull off the perfect surprise raid, or join the desperate English defenders, attempting to defend themselves long enough for reinforcements to arrive from neighboring towns.”

Blood & Plunder Land Tournament

The land tournament will feature 200pt land lists from any Blood & Plunder expansion. Watch for a complete packet release in January. Packet will include all details including possible scenarios, optional rules, errata applied etc.

The Blood & Plunder Land Tournament is Friday, 2-8pm.

Tournaments feature prizes for 1-3rd and a “best painted army” prize.

Blood & Plunder Sea Tournament

The Blood & Plunder sea tournament will also be increasing its point level a bit, up to 250pts. A packet for this event should release in January.

The sea tournament is Saturday, 2-8pm.

Blood & Plunder Open Play

Join us for open play on dedicated tables during the demo sessions each morning, Thursday through Saturday. Games can be played on land or sea, using the same point levels as the tournaments—perfect for practicing with your tournament forces.

As part of the Open Play sessions, we’re making available a new competitive scenario designed for up to 4 players per table, featuring preset terrain and scenario rules. Players should bring a 200-point land force or a 250-point sea force to participate. All rules and scenario details we be made available at the con.

This event is for players with a solid understanding of the rules and minimal need for assistance.

Oak & Iron

There will be daily Oak & Iron events & demos as well. The Oak & Iron tournament is Thursday, 2-8pm. Check TimberandSail.com for more upcoming details.

Other Firelock Games Events

There will be various other events scheduled for other games in Firelock Games’ catalog including, Port Royal, Blood & Valor, Blood & Crowns, and possibly Blood & Steel.

Veteran Invitationals

Each year we work super hard prepping and running events for the community. A large portion of the weekend is spent setting up, tearing down, teaching, answering questions and taking minis in and out of cases. Each year we try to schedule a “veterans only” invitational game for organizers and some of the other veteran Blood & Plunder players. If you’re a pro player and are interested in a faster moving, harder hitting event, feel free to inquire about plans for the Veteran Invitational (it won’t be on the AdeptiCon schedule).

Volunteering during Adepticon

If you love Blood & Plunder (or any of the games Firelock Games supports), and want to help out at the con, we’d love to hear from you! It takes a real team to make everything go smoothly and every year the community is amazing at helping out!
